SK Care Members Volunteer Their Thanksgiving Morning to Faith Mission

by TJ Jorgensen

11/22/2012- Members of Street Kids Care came out early on Thanksgiving morning to volunteer at the 4th annual Turkey Day Stampede, an event put on by the Faith Mission of Elkhart.

This was the third year that the SK Care members took part, and the event has grown tremendously over the years. Last year was the biggest event to date with 1,500 participants, but this year over 2,200 people came out to walk and run in the one mile, 5K and 10k events.

"This is Street Kids third year doing this and we could not be more proud of them for their efforts each year," said Mike Perez, director of the Faith Mission. "Their volunteers handle some major parts of the course, including directing foot and vehicle traffic. Without them, we could not pull this off."

I want to thank those that came out to support SKS and Faith Mission: Jeremy Hochstetler, Nick Bishop, Leland Schmucker, Travis Truexx, JR Shapiro, Jay Jeffery and Scott Martin. Thanks for getting up early and helping to make a difference!
